William Cayanan
Originally from San Leandro, CA, William Cayanan is a versatile cellist and composer. He serves as Principal Cello of the Colorado Springs Philharmonic and Bay Philharmonic and as Assistant Principal Cello of the Boise Philharmonic. Previously, he held titled positions with the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic and Terre Haute Symphony. William earned degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music and Indiana University, studying cello with Richard Weiss, Melissa Kraut, and Eric Kim, and composition with Keith Fitch and P.Q. Phan. A passionate chamber musician, he has collaborated with members of Quatuor Ébène and the Ariel String Quartet and performed as a concerto soloist.
